Since 2021, the joint national selection for state universities (SNMPTN) is no longer the only way to enter state universities in Indonesia. As a replacement, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemdikbud Ristek) has issued a new regulation, namely the Achievement-Based National Selection (SNBP).
What is SNBP?
National Achievement-Based Selection or SNBP is a selection process for new students to enter universities which is carried out based on academic and non-academic achievements. This SNBP aims to get prospective students who are qualified and have the potential to become future leaders in various fields.
The selection procedures carried out can vary depending on the policies of each university, but generally consist of several stages such as file selection, written tests, interviews, and certain skills or talent tests.
SNBP is an alternative for prospective
students who cannot or do not want to enter college through the national exam-based selection (SNMPTN) or independent written exam (SBMPTN). Although SNBP considers prospective students’ achievements holistically, competition to get a place in college through this route remains very tight.
At the file selection stage, prospective students are asked to complete registration files, such as registration forms, photocopies of diplomas, and transcripts. 2023 SNBP School Quota
The quota depends on the accreditation of each school.

Requirements for Study Program Selection in SNBP 2023
The following are the requirements for selecting study programs in SNBP:
Every student from the Science, Social Studies or Language majors may choose a study program at a State University
Every student can choose two study programs from one State University or two State Universities
If choosing two study programs, one must be at a State University in the same province as their SMA/MA/SMK.
